Rootz is an organization that is committed to providing young people, from marginalized communities, with creative tools such as visual arts, spoken word and music. Enabling them to voice their own lives, break the cycle of adversity and reach their full potential. We believe that personalizing young people’s individual experiences can help to end discrimination, steer them away from gangs and crime and also voice community, societal challenges and issues through creativity.

Our work focuses specifically on young people who in some way feel marginalised from the society, who are in trouble with the authorities, are incarcerated, are recently released from incarceration, are involved in gangs or other criminal behaviour.

We use creative workshops to reach and teach these youth, in close collaboration with community stakeholders.
